This smoothie is your new best friend. Its superfood contents jam in the vitamins and nutrients your body craves.

It blasts sugar cravings and will jostle your body back to health. Its power-packed protein will ramp up your metabolism and keep you satisfied!

Sure, it has more ingredients than I like to deal with, especially in the morning, but it’s easier than making eggs and it keeps me full longer!

Recipe makes 2 full servings, so I make one each morning then I’ll pour half in a jar and save it the fridge for later. Sometimes I’ll share 1/2 with my husband and/or 9 month old.  This is definitely our family’s new, “go to” breakfast smoothie!


COCONUT Superfood Smoothie

In a Blender Combine:
1/2 cup coconut milk
1/2-1 cup filtered water (more if you want to pour it, less if your going for Ice Creamy)
1 banana, peeled
3-4 cubes ice
2 Tbsp:
Coconut (unsweetened)
Pumpkin seeds
Chia seeds
Hemp hearts (optional)
1 Tbsp:
Coconut oil
1 tsp:
Maca Powder (optional)
 Oh and by the way, if you have a serious ice cream obsession, this beast will blast those sweet, cold, creamy cravings for sure!

And If you’re one of those weirdos who don’t like coconut… just go. We don’t want you here.

RECIPE: Pistachio and Spinach Smoothie

One of my coolest girl friends recently shared with me her favorite smoothie recipe. This is a girl who went heli-skiing on her honeymoon and stole Michael Jordan’s retired jersey from the Dean Dome rafters.  (Only one of these actually happened, but this girl would do happily do both, and then some).

So if it’s a Pistachio Smoothie that is her daily tall-glass-o-Bad-Ass, then this is what’s going in my Vitamix tomorrow morning:

Pistachio SMoothie

In a blender combine:

1 cup organic spinach

3/4 cup almond milk

1/4 cup filtered water

6-8 almonds

12-14 pistachios

4-6 cubes ice

(1 scoop protein powder, unflavored or  vanilla) optional

(1 tbsp maca powder) optional

clean up our diet.

I’ve created the following Detox Meal Plan Challenge to Get Clean in 2015!
this Spring. It consists of a toxin-free, dairy-free, alcohol-free,
caffiene-free, gluten-free, low-fat, low-carb, alkaline, vegetarian,
vegan, macrobiotic, kosher, REAL FOOD diet.  So all are welcome! And,
it’s as easy as easy as 1, 2, 3!

The Goal is to maintain it for 7, 14, 21 or 31 days…

1 of following smoothies:

3 Tbsp almond butter
1 cup almond milk
1/2 banana
1 cup spinach
(1 tsp maca powder)
(1 Tbsp chia seeds)

add ice and blend all ingredients

1 cucumber
1 clementine
1 celery stalk
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup frozen pineapple
(1/4 tsp cayenne)
(3 large basil leaves)

add ice and blend all ingredients

1 cup frozen berries
1 cup almond milk
1 zucchini
1 cup kale or spinach
(1 tsp cinnamon)
(1 Tbsp honey)

add ice and blend all ingredients

2 of following:
sweet potato* (technically unless you eat it raw or slow cook it at
less than 116 degrees, it’s not macrobiotic)
1 cup berries
1 cup carrots
1 cup cucumbers
1 red, yellow, or green pepper
salad containing any organic greens and only foods you see on this page (dressing
must be olive oil  and freshly squeezed lemon juice +/- grated ginger
and /or grated onion)

3 of following proteins:
hard boiled egg* * (animal product)
1/2 cup walnuts, almonds or sunflower seeds
1 cup beans

2 Tbsp almond butter
Beverages (at least 100 ounces):
green hot tea

RECIPE: Super Boost Smoothie

In a blender combine:

1 cup organic carrot juice (you can use 2/3 carrot juice, 1/3 water if you prefer)

1 cup organic spinach

4 organic strawberries (leave caps on!)

3 organic cucumber discs

1 tsp Maca powder (optional)

1 tsp Plant Protein powder (optional)

4-5 ice cubes


You can also use frozen organic spinach and/or frozen organic strawberries in lieu of ice if it’s easier!

RECIPE: Power Balls!

I have to be honest. I almost didn’t share this recipe with you guys.  Because I was going to launch the Power Ball Super Dessert line and retire on an island, giving 50% of my Power Ball proceeds to charity.  But I’ve decided my charity act instead, is going to be passing it along to you.

Not that you are a charity act…really I’m way too busy to launch anything right now….but I will launch into how amazing these dessert are!

How to describe? Hmmm.

If a super health nut and a serious chocolate lover had 12 little delicious edible babies, that would be Power Balls!  (Minus the weirdness of that concept).

It’s my go-to “I’ll bring dessert” recipe, because I know it’s real, it’s healthy, additive-free, ridiculously scrumptious, and so rich you can’t eat too many.

OK, you actually can, but it’d be hard if others are around, because they’ll be snatching them up so quickly.  They are that good.

The secret is….the measurements are flexible, I make them differently each time. So play around and see which combo/ratio you like best!

The optional Ingredients are what give these tasty treats their power!  Maca supports hormone balance, increases libido (hello!) and boosts your energy.  Chia seeds and flax seeds are rich in Omega 3’s, protein and fiber, so include them!

In a food processor combine:

3 Tbsp coconut oil

4 Tbsp Cacao Powder 

1/2 cup almonds

3 Tbsp of Honey

2 dashes of cinnamon

1 pinch of sea salt

1 tbsp of chia seeds  (optional)

1 tbsp of Flax seeds (optional)

1 tsp of maca powder (optional)

Spoon out the sticky mixture on to wax paper or foil on a plate you will put in the freezer

Make several small ‘power balls’, you determine how big or small (they don’t have to be pretty)

Melt (I use the microwave about 30 seconds, stir, then a second 30 seconds) 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips 

Scoop out melted chocolate and drizzle over the power balls (coat entirely or just a drizzle)

Place balls in the freezer for 5-10 min

Serve chilled

RECIPE: Blueberry Blast Smoothie

Sadly, summer is over and gone with it, blueberry season; but thank goodness for freezers!

Here is the recipe for a delicious blueberry smoothie, complete with antioxidants, protein and the micronutrients you need to feel as bright as a summer day! Again, the measurements are approximations, people, just throw in a little of this and a little of that and see which combinations YOU like best!

In a blender mix:

1/4-1/2 cup frozen blueberries

1/4-1/2 cup frozen spinach

1/2 cup plain yogurt

1/2-1 cup water (you want it thick or runny?)

1 dash of cinnamon

2 Tbsp of honey, maple syrup or agave (more or less depending on your sweet tooth needs)

I add a tsp of maca powder, a super food, because I’m super! So if you’re super, you should too!
