I was appalled to learn that I was fed foods my entire life that were known to be harmful to me.  Sure, some food companies make “junk food” or sell  poor quality meat, but how could the FDA let companies sell food that are known to slowly kill us?

I didn’t know that our milk and cheese is ILLEGAL in other countries. Why? Because the growth hormone we inject into our cows (rBGH) to make them larger is known to cause breast and prostate cancer!

While working as a physician in New Zealand, I had dinner at a dairy farmer’s house. He explained he could only inject cows with hormones if the meat and dairy products were going to be exported to America. WTF?!?

I’ve noticed that young girls breasts are way bigger than mine or my friends’ were growing up. Girls are starting their periods much earlier and breast and prostate cancer seem almost inevitable these days. But it wasn’ t until I began researching the matter that the connection between hormone exposure, precocious puberty and cancer became so clear.

Madeleine Vanstory attended Duke University and began her post-graduate journey at The Elaine Clark Center working with special needs children. She has participated with Operation Smile in Russia, she has patients in North Carolina, Maine, Oregon and New Zealand. Dr. Vanstory has worked the medical tents in the Marine Corps marathon in Washington DC and at the Kona Ironman World Championships. And Dr. Vanstory has marched with the Surgeon General promoting "Exercise is Medicine" at the World Congress Sports Medicine Conference. Disillusioned by the current health care system and armed with the realization that culture, nutrition and emotional well-being have a profound impact on health, Dr. Vanstory now motivates clients and patients to discover the healthiest versions of themselves through humor, counseling in her "Upgrade Your Health" Wellness Program.
